An example of this would be the genus Sagittaria, where although there have been a number of reviews of the genus, to quote C.D.K.Cook (1970 Aquatic Plant Book. Academic Publishing, Amsterdam/New York) "none [..] have gained wide recognition". A number of alien taxa have been recorded in the UK, in addition to the native S.sagittifolia. Although some of these have been critically determined, new plants are being found at intervals and we are badly in need of advice on the latest information on identification features. I would imagine that botanists in an area supporting Sagittaria species must identify them and I am eager to exchange information on the characters that they use.
